Joel 2:1-17
1BlowH8628 ye the trumpetH7782 in ZionH6726, and soundH7321 an alarmH7321 in my holyH6944 mountainH2022; let all the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 trembleH7264: for the dayH3117 of Jehovah cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2a dayH3117 of darknessH2822 and gloominess, a dayH3117 of cloudsH6051 and thickH6205 darknessH2822, as the dawnH7837 spreadH6566 upon the mountainsH2022; a greatH7227 peopleH5971 and a strong; there hath not beenH1961 everH5769 the likeH3644, neither shall beH1961 any moreH4480 after them, even to the yearsH8141 of manyH7227 generationsH1755. 3A fireH784 devoureth before them; and behind them a flameH3852 burneth: the landH776 is as the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731 before them, and behind them a desolate wildernessH4057; yea, and none hath escapedH6413 them.
4The appearanceH4758 of them is as the appearanceH4758 of horsesH5483; and as horsemenH6571, soH3651 do they runH7323. 5Like the noise of chariotsH4818 on the topsH7218 of the mountainsH2022 do they leapH7540, like the noise of a flameH3851 of fireH784 that devoureth the stubbleH7179, as a strong peopleH5971 set in battleH4421 array. 6At their presenceH6440 the peoplesH5971 are in anguishH2342; all facesH6440 are waxed pale. 7They runH7323 like mightyH1368 menH376; they climb the wallH2346 like menH376 of warH4421; and they march every oneH376 on his waysH1870, and they break not their ranks. 8Neither doth oneH376 thrust another; they march every oneH376 in his path; and they burst through the weaponsH7973, and break not off their course. 9They leap upon the cityH5892; they runH7323 upon the wallH2346; they climb up into the housesH1004; they enter in at the windowsH2474 like a thiefH1590. 10The earthH776 quaketh before them; the heavensH8064 trembleH7264; the sunH8121 and the moonH3394 are darkened, and the starsH3556 withdrawH622 their shining. 11And Jehovah uttereth his voiceH6963 before his armyH4264; for his campH4264 is veryH3966 greatH1419; for he is strong that executeth his wordH1697; for the dayH3117 of Jehovah is greatH1419 and veryH3966 terrible; and who can abide it?
12Yet even nowH6258, saith Jehovah, turnH7725 ye unto me with all your heartH3824, and with fastingH6685, and with weepingH1065, and with mourningH4553: 13and rend your heartH3824, and not your garmentsH899, and turnH7725 unto Jehovah your GodH430; for he is graciousH2587 and merciful, slow to angerH639, and abundant in lovingkindness, and repenteth him of the evilH7451. 14Who knoweth whether he will not turnH7725 and repent, and leaveH7604 a blessingH1293 behind him, even a meal-offering and a drink-offering unto Jehovah your GodH430?
15BlowH8628 the trumpetH7782 in ZionH6726, sanctifyH6942 a fastH6685, callH7121 a solemnH6116 assemblyH6116; 16gatherH6908 the peopleH5971, sanctifyH6942 the assemblyH6951, assemble the oldH2205 men, gatherH6908 the childrenH5768, and those that suckH3243 the breastsH7699; let the bridegroom goH3318 forthH3318 from his chamberH2315, and the brideH3618 out of her closet. 17Let the priestsH3548, the ministers of Jehovah, weepH1058 between the porchH197 and the altarH4196, and let them sayH559, Spare thy peopleH5971, O Jehovah, and giveH5414 not thy heritage to reproachH2781, that the nationsH1471 should ruleH4910 over them: wherefore should they sayH559 among the peoplesH5971, WhereH346 is their GodH430?
