Precepts and Warnings
1Do not beH7065 1enviousH7065 of evilH7463 peopleH376, NorH408 desireH183 to 2be with them;2For their 3mindsH3820 plotH1897 4violenceH7701, And their lipsH8193 5talkH1696 of troubleH5999.
36By wisdomH2451 a houseH1004 is builtH1129, And by understandingH8394 it is establishedH3559;4And by knowledgeH1847 the roomsH2315 are 7filledH4390 With allH3605 preciousH3368 and pleasantH5273 richesH1952.
5A 8wiseH2450 manH1397 is 9strongH5797, And a personH376 of knowledgeH1847 10increasesH553 powerH3581.6For 11by wiseH8458 guidanceH8458 you will 12wageH6213 warH4421, And 13in an abundanceH7230 of counselorsH3289 there is victoryH8668.
7WisdomH2451 is 14too exaltedH7311 for a foolH191, He does not openH6605 his mouthH6310 15at the gateH8179.
8One who 16plansH2803 to doH7489 evilH7489, People will callH7121 a 17schemerH1167H4209.9The 18devisingH2154 of foolishnessH200 is sinH2403, And the scofferH3917 is an abominationH8441 to humanityH120.
10If you 19showH7503 yourselfH7503 lackingH7503 courageH7503 on the dayH3117 of distressH6869, Your strengthH3581 is meagerH6862.
1120RescueH5337 those who are being takenH3947 away to deathH4194, And those who are staggeringH4131 to the slaughterH2027, OhH518 holdH2820 them backH2820!12IfH3588 you sayH559, “SeeH2005, we did not knowH3045 thisH2088,” Does He 21who weighsH8505 the heartsH3820 not 22considerH995 it? And 23does He who 24watchesH5341 overH5341 your soulH5315 not knowH3045 it? And will He not 2526repayH7725 a personH120 according to his workH6467?
13My sonH1121, eatH398 27honeyH1706, for it is goodH2896; Yes, the 28honeyH5317 fromH5317 theH5317 combH5317 is sweetH4966 to your tasteH2441;14KnowH3045 that 29wisdomH2451 is the sameH3651 for your soulH5315; IfH518 you findH4672 it, then thereH3426 will beH3426 a 3031futureH319, And your hopeH8615 will not be cutH3772 offH3772.
1532Do not lieH693 inH693 ambushH693, you wickedH7563 personH7563, against the homeH5116 of the righteousH6662; Do not destroyH7703 his restingH7258 placeH7258;16For a 33righteousH6662 personH6662 fallsH5307 sevenH7651 timesH7651 and risesH6965 again, But the 34wickedH7563 stumbleH3782 in time of disasterH7463.
1735Do not rejoiceH8055 when your enemyH340 fallsH5307, And do not let your heartH3820 rejoiceH1523 when he stumblesH3782,18OtherwiseH6435, the LordH3068 will seeH7200 and 36be displeasedH7489H5869, And turnH7725 His angerH639 awayH7725 from him.
1937Do not getH2734 upsetH2734 because of evildoersH7489 Or beH7065 38enviousH7065 of the wickedH7563;20For 39there will be noH3808 4041futureH319 for the evilH7451 personH7451; The 42lampH5216 of the wickedH7563 will be putH1846 outH1846.
21My sonH1121, 4344fearH3372 the LordH3068 and the kingH4428; Do not getH6148 involvedH6148 with those 45of highH8132 rankH8132,22For their 46disasterH343 will riseH6965 suddenlyH6597, And whoH4310 knowsH3045 the ruinH6365 that can come from bothH8147 of them?
23TheseH428 alsoH1571 are 47sayings of the wiseH2450: To 4849showH5234 partialityH5234H6440 in judgmentH4941 is not goodH2896.24One 50who saysH559 to the wickedH7563, “You are righteousH6662,” 51PeoplesH5971 will curseH6895 him, nationsH3816 will scoldH2194 him;25But 52for those who rebukeH3198 the wicked there will beH5276 delightH5276, And a goodH2896 blessingH1293 will comeH935 upon them.26One who givesH7725 53a rightH5228 answerH1697 KissesH5401 the lipsH8193.
27PrepareH3559 your workH4399 outsideH2351, And 54makeH6257 it readyH6257 for yourself in the fieldH7704; AfterwardH310, then, buildH1129 your houseH1004.
28Do not be a 55witnessH5707 against your neighborH7453 forH2600 noH2600 reasonH2600, And 56do not deceiveH6601 with your lipsH8193.2957DoH6213 not sayH559, “I shall doH6213 the sameH3651 to him as he has doneH6213 to me; I will 58repayH7725 the personH376 according to his workH6467.”
30I passedH5674 by the fieldH7704 of 59a lazyH6102 oneH6102, And by the vineyardH3754 of a personH120 60lackingH2638 61senseH3820,31And beholdH2009, it was completelyH3605 62overgrownH5927 with weedsH7057; Its surfaceH6440 was coveredH3680 with 63weedsH2738, And its stoneH68 64wallH1447 was brokenH2040 downH2040.32When I sawH2372, I 65reflectedH7896H3820 upon it; I lookedH7200, and receivedH3947 instructionH4148.33“66A littleH4592 sleepH8142, a littleH4592 slumberH8572, A littleH4592 foldingH2264 of the handsH3027 to restH7901,”34Then your povertyH7389 will comeH935 like 67a drifterH1980, And your needH4270 like 68an armedH4043 manH376.
