2 Samuel 5:1-10

11Then allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 cameH935 to DavidH1732 at HebronH2275 and 2saidH559, “BeholdH2009, we are 3your boneH6106 and your fleshH1320. 2PreviouslyH1571H865H8032, when SaulH7586 was kingH4428 overH5921 us, 4you were the one who ledH3318 IsraelH3478 5out and in. And the LordH3068 saidH559 to you, ‘6You will shepherdH7462 My peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and you will be 7a leaderH5057 overH5921 IsraelH3478.’” 3So allH3605 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 cameH935 to the kingH4428 at HebronH2275, and KingH4428 DavidH1732 8madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with them beforeH6440 the LordH3068 in HebronH2275; then 9they anointedH4886 DavidH1732 kingH4428 overH5921 IsraelH3478. 4DavidH1732 was 10thirtyH7970 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he becameH4427 kingH4427, and 11he reignedH4427 for fortyH705 yearsH8141. 5At HebronH2275 12he reignedH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063 for sevenH7651 yearsH8141 and sixH8337 monthsH2320, and in JerusalemH3389 he reignedH4427 for thirty-threeH7970H7969 yearsH8141 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063.

613Now the kingH4428 and his menH376 wentH1980 to 14JerusalemH3389 againstH413 the JebusitesH2983, the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776; and they saidH559 to 15DavidH1732, “You shall not comeH935 inH935 hereH2008, but even those who are blindH5787 and those who limpH6455 will turnH5493 you awayH5493,” 16thinkingH559, “DavidH1732 cannotH3808 enterH935 hereH2008.” 7Nevertheless, DavidH1732 capturedH3920 the strongholdH4686 of ZionH6726, that is, 17the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. 8And DavidH1732 saidH559 on that dayH3117, “WhoeverH3605 strikesH5221 the JebusitesH2983 is to reachH5060 those who limpH6455 and those who are blindH5787, who are hatedH8130 by David’sH1732 soulH5315, through the waterH6794 tunnelH6794.” For thatH3651 reasonH3651 they sayH559, “PeopleH5787 who are blindH5787 and peopleH6455 who limpH6455 shall not comeH935 into the houseH1004.” 9So DavidH1732 livedH3427 in the strongholdH4686, and calledH7121 it 18the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. And DavidH1732 builtH1129 allH5439 aroundH5439 from the 1920MilloH4407 and inwardH1004. 1021DavidH1732 becameH1980 greaterH1980 and greaterH1419, for the LordH3068 GodH430 of armiesH6635 was with him.
