Matthew 5:2-12

And 1He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,

“23Blessed are the poor in spirit, for 4theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are 5those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

“Blessed are 6the 7gentle, for they will inherit the earth.

“Blessed are 8those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

“Blessed are 9the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

“Blessed are 10the pure in heart, for 11they will see God.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for 12they will be called sons of God.

“Blessed are those who have been 13persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for 14theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when people 15insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for 16in this same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
