Matthew 4:8-25
81Again, the devil took Him along to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9and he said to Him, “2All these things I will give You, if You fall down and 3worship me.” 10Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘4You shall worship the Lord your God, and 5serve Him only.’” 11Then the devil left Him; and behold, 6angels came and began to serve Him.
12Now when Jesus heard that 7John had been taken into custody, 8He withdrew into Galilee; 13and leaving Nazareth, He came and 9settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:15“10The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, 11By the way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee of the 12Gentiles--1613The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light, And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, Upon them a Light dawned.”
1714From that time Jesus began to 15preach and say, “16Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
1817Now as Jesus was walking by 18the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, 19Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19And He said to them, “20Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people.” 20Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21Going on from there He saw two other brothers, 2122James the son of Zebedee, and his brother 23John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them. 22Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
23Jesus was going 24about in all of Galilee, 25teaching in their synagogues and 26proclaiming the 27gospel of the kingdom, and 28healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24And the news about Him spread 29throughout Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and severe pain, 30demon-possessed, people with 31epilepsy, and people who were 32paralyzed; and He healed them. 25Large crowds 33followed Him from Galilee and 34the Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and from 35beyond the Jordan.
