John 6:47-65
47Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes 1has eternal life. 482I am the bread of life. 493Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50This is the bread that 4comes down out of heaven, so that anyone may eat from it and 5not die. 516I am the living bread that 7came down out of heaven; if anyone eats from this bread, 8he will live forever; and the bread which I will give 9for the life of the world also is 10My flesh.”
5211Then the Jews 12began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?” 53So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of 13the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will 14raise him up on the last day. 55For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood 15remains in Me, and I in him. 57Just as the 16living Father 17sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58This is the bread that 18came down out of heaven, not as 19the fathers ate and died; the one who eats this bread 20will live forever.” 59These things He said 21in the synagogue as He taught 22in Capernaum.
60So then many of His 23disciples, when they heard this, said, “24This statement is very 25unpleasant; who can listen to it?” 61But Jesus, 26aware that His disciples were complaining about this, said to them, “Is this 2728offensive to you? 62What then if you see 29the Son of Man 30ascending to where He was before? 6331It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; 32the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life. 64But there are 33some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus 34knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and 35who it was who would 36betray Him. 65And He was saying, “For this reason I have 37told you that no one can come to Me unless 38it has been granted him from the Father.”
