John 5:27-47

27and He gave Him authority to 1execute judgment, because He is 2the Son of Man. 28Do not be amazed at this; for 3 4a time is coming when 5all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come out: 6those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

30“7I can do nothing 8on My own. As I hear, I judge; and 9My judgment is 10righteous, because I do not seek My own will but 11the will of Him who sent Me.

31“12If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not 13true. 32There is 14another who testifies about Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33You have sent messengers to John, and he 15has testified to the truth. 34But 16the testimony I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was 17the lamp that was burning and shining, and you 18were willing to rejoice for 19a while in his light. 36But the testimony I have is greater than the testimony of John; for 20the works which the Father has given Me 21to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father 22has sent Me. 37And the Father who sent Me, 23He has testified about Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38Also you do not have 24His word remaining in you, because you do not believe Him whom He 25sent. 39 26 27You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is 28those very Scriptures that testify about Me; 40and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 41 29I do not receive glory from people; 42but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not 30receive Me; 31if another comes in his own name, you will 32receive him. 44How can you believe, when you 33 34accept 35glory from one another and you do not seek 36the 37glory that is from 38the one and only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is 39Moses, in whom you have put your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for 40he wrote about Me. 47But 41if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
