John 5:27-47

27and He gave Him authority to 1execute judgment, because He is 2the Son of Man. 28Do not marvel at this; for 3an hour is coming, in which 4all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come forth; 5those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

30“6I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and 7My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but 8the will of Him who sent Me.

31“9If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not 10true. 32There is 11another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33You have sent to John, and he 12has testified to the truth. 34But 13the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was 14the lamp that was burning and was shining and you 15were willing to rejoice for 16a while in his light. 36But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for 17the works which the Father has given Me 18to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father 19has sent Me. 37And the Father who sent Me, 20He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. 38You do not have 21His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He 22sent. 392324You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is 25these that testify about Me; 40and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 4126I do not receive glory from men; 42but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; 27if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44How can you believe, when you 28receive 29glory from one another and you do not seek 30the 31glory that is from 32the one and only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is 33Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for 34he wrote about Me. 47But 35if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
