John 1:4-12

4 1In Him was life, and the life was 2the Light of mankind. 5And 3the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not 4grasp it.

6A man 5came, one sent from God, and his name was 6John. 7 7He came 8 9as a witness, to testify about the Light, 10so that all might believe through him. 8 11 12He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

9 13This was 14the true Light 15that, coming into the world, enlightens every person. 10He was in the world, and 16the world came into being through Him, and yet the world did not 17know Him. 11He came to His 18own, and His own people did not 19accept Him. 12But 20as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become 21children of God, 22to those who 23believe in His name,
