James 4:4-10
4You 1adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with 2the world is 3hostility toward God? 4Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5Or do you think that the Scripture 5says to no purpose, “6He 7jealously desires 8the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”? 6But 9He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “10God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 711Submit therefore to God. But 1213resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 814Come close to God and He will come close to you. 15Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and 16purify your hearts, you 1718double-minded. 919Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. 1020Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
