Context of Ezekiel 46:23
21Then he brought me out into the outer courtyard and led me across to the four corners of the courtyard; and behold, in every corner of the courtyard there was a small courtyard. 22In the four corners of the courtyard there were enclosed courtyards, forty cubits long and thirty wide; these four in the corners were the same size. And there was a row of masonry all around in them, around the four of them, and cooking hearths were made under the rows all around. 24Then he said to me, “These are the cooking places where the ministers of the house shall cook the sacrifices of the people.”

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 23It was made with boiling places - These were uncovered apartments, where they kept fires for dressing those parts of the peace-offerings, which were made in the temple by individuals through a principle of devotion. On these their families and their friends feasted; and portions were sent to the poor, the widows, and the orphans. And thus the spirit of devotion was the means of preserving the spirit of mercy, charity, and benevolence in the land. How true…Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 19-24The vision of the temple proper (Ezekiel 40–46) ends where the tour started. The prophet began in the outer court. He traveled to the center and back out twice, finishing at the outer court's edges, in the kitchens. Here, people cooked various sacrifices. Some sacrifices were burned completely on the altar. Others were only partially burned, with parts returned so the worshiper could feast with his family in the Lord's presence.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 19-2419-24. Due regard is to be had for the sanctity of the officiating priests' food, by cooking courts being provided close to their chambers. One set of apartments for cooking was to be at the corners of the inner court, reserved for the flesh of the sin offerings, to be eaten only by the priests whose perquisite it was (Le 6:25; 7:7), before coming forth to mingle again with the people; another set at the corners of the outer court, for cooking the flesh…Read the comment
