Ezekiel 17:14-18
14so that the kingdom would 1be humbled, not exalting itself, but keeping his covenant so that it might continue.
15But 2he 3revolted against 4him by sending his messengers to Egypt so that they might give him horses and many 5troops. Will he succeed? Will he who does these things 6escape? Can he indeed break the covenant and escape?
16As I live,’ declares the Lord God, ‘In the 7country of the king who 8put him on the throne, whose oath he 9despised and whose covenant he broke, 1011in Babylon he shall certainly die.
1712Pharaoh with his mighty army and great contingent will not 13help him in the war, when they pile up assault ramps and build siege walls to eliminate many lives.
18Now he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, and behold, he 1415pledged his allegiance, yet did all these things; he shall not escape.’”
