Acts 2:28-47

28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

29“1Brothers, I may confidently say to you regarding the 2patriarch David that he both 3died and 4was buried, and 5his tomb is 6with us to this day. 30So because he was 7a prophet and knew that 8God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one 9of his descendants on his throne, 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the 10Christ, that 11He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh 12suffer decay. 32It is this Jesus whom 13God raised up, 14a fact to which we are all 15witnesses. 33Therefore, 16since He has been exalted 1718at the right hand of God, and 19has received 20the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has 21poured out this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into 22heaven, but he himself says: ‘23The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,35Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’ 36Therefore let all the 24house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both 25Lord and 26Christ--this Jesus 27whom you crucified.”

37Now when they heard this, they were 28pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “29Brothers, 30what are we to do?” 38Peter said to them, “31Repent, and each of you be 32baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For 33the promise is for you and your children and for all who are 34far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly 35testified and kept on urging them, saying, “36Be saved from this 37perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand 3839souls. 42They were 40continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to 41the breaking of bread and 42to 43prayer.

4344Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many 45wonders and 46signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all the believers 47were together and 48had all things in common; 45and they 49would sell their property and possessions and share them with all, to the extent that anyone had need. 4650Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and 51breaking bread 52from house to house, they were taking their 53meals together with gladness and 54sincerity of heart, 47praising God and 55having favor with all the people. And the Lord 56was adding to 57their number day by day 58those who were being saved.
