Acts 2:28-47

28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

29“1Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the 2patriarch David that he both 3died and 4was buried, and 5his tomb is 6with us to this day. 30And so, because he was 7a prophet and knew that 8God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one 9of his descendants on his throne, 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of 10the Christ, that 11He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh 12suffer decay. 32This Jesus 13God raised up again, to which we are all 14witnesses. 33Therefore having been exalted 1516to the right hand of God, and 17having received from the Father 18the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has 19poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into 20heaven, but he himself says: ‘21The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,35Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’ 36Therefore let all the 22house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both 23Lord and 24Christ--this Jesus 25whom you crucified.”

37Now when they heard this, they were 26pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “27Brethren, 2829what shall we do?” 38Peter said to them, “30Repent, and each of you be 31baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For 32the promise is for you and your children and for all who are 33far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40And with many other words he solemnly 34testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “35Be saved from this 36perverse generation!” 41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand 3738souls. 42They were 39continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to 40the breaking of bread and 4142to prayer.

4343Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many 44wonders and 45signs were taking place through the apostles. 44And all those who had believed 46were together and 47had all things in common; 45and they 48began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 4649Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and 50breaking bread 51from house to house, they were taking their 52meals together with gladness and 53sincerity of heart, 47praising God and 54having favor with all the people. And the Lord 55was adding 56to their number day by day 57those who were being saved.
