2 Peter 2:12-22

12But 1these, like unreasoning animals, 2born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, using abusive speech where they have no knowledge, will in 3the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, 13suffering wrong as 4the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to 5revel in the 6daytime. They are stains and blemishes, 7reveling in their 8deceptions as they 9feast with you, 14having eyes full of adultery 10that never cease from sin, 11enticing 12unstable souls, having hearts trained in 13greed, 14accursed children; 15abandoning 15the right way, they have gone astray, having followed 16the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved 17the 18reward of unrighteousness; 16but he received a rebuke for his own offense, 19for a mute donkey, speaking with a human voice, restrained the insanity of the prophet.

17These are 20springs without water and mists driven by a storm, 21for whom the 22black darkness has been reserved. 18For, while speaking out 23arrogant words of no 24value they 25entice by fleshly desires, by 26indecent behavior, those who barely 27escape from the ones who live in error, 19promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for 28by what anyone is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 20For if, after they have 29escaped the defilements of the world by 30the knowledge of the 31Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again 32entangled in them and are overcome, 33the last state has become worse for them than the first. 2134For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from 35the holy commandment 36handed on to them. 2237It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “38A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”
