1 Timothy 1:3-7

3Just as I urged you 1upon my departure for 2Macedonia, to remain on at 3Ephesus so that you would instruct certain people not to 4teach strange doctrines, 4nor to 5pay attention to 6myths and endless 7genealogies, which give rise to useless 8speculation rather than 9advance 10the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 5But the goal of our 1112instruction is love 13from a pure heart, from a 14good conscience, and from a sincere 15faith. 6Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to 16fruitless discussion, 717wanting to be 18teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
