1 Corinthians 1:19-31

19For it is written: “1I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.” 202Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 3this age? Has God not 4made foolish the wisdom of 5the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 6the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 7God 8was pleased through the 9foolishness of the 10message preached to 11save those who believe. 22For indeed 12Jews ask for 13signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 1415Christ crucified, 16to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles 17foolishness, 24but to those who are 18the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 19the power of God and 20the wisdom of God. 25For the 21foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and 22the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.

26For 23consider your 24calling, brothers and sisters, that there were 25not many wise according to 26the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 27God has chosen the foolish things of 28the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 29the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the 30insignificant things of 31the world and the despised God has chosen, 32the things that are not, so that He may 33nullify the things that are, 29so that 34no 35human may boast before God. 30But it is 36due to Him that you are in 37Christ Jesus, who became to us 38wisdom from God, 39and 40righteousness and 41sanctification, and 42redemption, 31so that, just as it is written: “43Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
