1 Corinthians 1:19-31

19For it is written, “1I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.” 202Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 3this age? Has not God 4made foolish the wisdom of 5the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 6the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 7God was well-pleased through the 8foolishness of the 9message preached to 10save those who believe. 22For indeed 11Jews ask for 12signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 1314Christ crucified, 15to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles 16foolishness, 24but to those who are 17the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 18the power of God and 19the wisdom of God. 25Because the 20foolishness of God is wiser than men, and 21the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26For 22consider your 23calling, brethren, that there were 24not many wise according to 25the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 26God has chosen the foolish things of 27the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 28the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the base things of 29the world and the despised God has chosen, 30the things that are not, so that He may 31nullify the things that are, 29so that 32no 33man may boast before God. 30But 34by His doing you are in 35Christ Jesus, who became to us 36wisdom from God, 37and 38righteousness and 39sanctification, and 40redemption, 31so that, just as it is written, “41Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
