1 Corinthians 1:16-28
16But I did baptize the 1household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else. 172For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, 3not with 4cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.
18For the word of the cross is 5foolishness to 6those who 7are perishing, but to us who 8are being saved it is 9the power of God. 19For it is written: “10I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.” 2011Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 12this age? Has God not 13made foolish the wisdom of 14the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 15the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 16God 17was pleased through the 18foolishness of the 19message preached to 20save those who believe. 22For indeed 21Jews ask for 22signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 2324Christ crucified, 25to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles 26foolishness, 24but to those who are 27the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 28the power of God and 29the wisdom of God. 25For the 30foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and 31the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.
26For 32consider your 33calling, brothers and sisters, that there were 34not many wise according to 35the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 36God has chosen the foolish things of 37the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 38the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the 39insignificant things of 40the world and the despised God has chosen, 41the things that are not, so that He may 42nullify the things that are,
