1 Corinthians 1:15-31

15so that no one would say you were baptized 1in my name! 16But I did baptize the 2household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else. 173For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, 4not with 5cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made of no effect.

18For the word of the cross is 6foolishness to 7those who 8are perishing, but to us who 9are being saved it is 10the power of God. 19For it is written: “11I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the understanding of those who have understanding, I will confound.” 2012Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of 13this age? Has God not 14made foolish the wisdom of 15the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God 16the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, 17God 18was pleased through the 19foolishness of the 20message preached to 21save those who believe. 22For indeed 22Jews ask for 23signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23but we preach 2425Christ crucified, 26to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles 27foolishness, 24but to those who are 28the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ 29the power of God and 30the wisdom of God. 25For the 31foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and 32the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.

26For 33consider your 34calling, brothers and sisters, that there were 35not many wise according to 36the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27but 37God has chosen the foolish things of 38the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of 39the world to shame the things which are strong, 28and the 40insignificant things of 41the world and the despised God has chosen, 42the things that are not, so that He may 43nullify the things that are, 29so that 44no 45human may boast before God. 30But it is 46due to Him that you are in 47Christ Jesus, who became to us 48wisdom from God, 49and 50righteousness and 51sanctification, and 52redemption, 31so that, just as it is written: “53Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
