Jonah’s Prayer
11Then JonahH3124 prayedH6419 to the LordH3068 his GodH430 2from the stomachH4578 of the fishH1710, 2and he saidH559, “I 3calledH7121 out of my distressH6869 to the LordH3068, And He answeredH6030 me. I criedH7768 for helpH7768 from the 4depthH990 of 5SheolH7585; You heardH8085 my voiceH6963.3For You had 6castH7993 me into the deepH4688, Into the heartH3824 of the seasH3220, And the currentH5104 7engulfedH5437 me. AllH3605 Your 8breakersH4867 and billowsH1530 passedH5674 overH5921 me.4So I saidH559, ‘I have been 9expelledH1644 from 10Your sightH5869. NeverthelessH389 I will lookH5027 againH3254 11towardH413 Your holyH6944 templeH1964.’512WaterH4325 encompassedH661 me to the 13point of deathH5315. The great 14deepH8415 15engulfedH5437 me, WeedsH5488 were wrappedH2280 around my headH7218.6I 16descendedH3381 to the rootsH7095 of the mountainsH2022. The earthH776 with its 17barsH1280 was aroundH1157 me foreverH5769, But You have 18broughtH5927 up my lifeH2425 from 19the pitH7845, O LordH3068 my GodH430.7While 20I was 21faintingH5848 awayH5848, I 22rememberedH2142 the LordH3068, And my 23prayerH8605 cameH935 to You, Into 24Your holyH6944 templeH1964.8Those who 25regardH8104 26vainH7723 idolsH1892 ForsakeH5800 their faithfulnessH2617,9But I will 27sacrificeH2076 to You With the voiceH6963 of thanksgivingH8426. That whichH834 I have vowedH5087 I will 28payH7999. 29SalvationH3444 is from the LordH3068.”
10Then the LordH3068 commandedH559 the 30fishH1709, and it vomitedH7006 JonahH3124 up ontoH413 the dryH3004 landH3004.
