Ezra 10:2-11

2ShecaniahH7935 the sonH1121 of JehielH3171, one of the sonsH1121 of ElamH5867, saidH559 to EzraH5830, “1We have beenH4603 unfaithfulH4603 to our GodH430 and have 2marriedH3427 foreignH5237 womenH802 from the peoplesH5971 of the landH776; yet nowH6258 thereH3426 is hopeH4723 for IsraelH3478 in spiteH5921 of thisH2088. 3So nowH6258 3let us makeH3772 a covenantH1285 with our GodH430 to putH3318 awayH3318 allH3605 the wivesH802 and 45their childrenH3205, according to the counselH6098 of 6my lordH136 and of 7those who trembleH2730 at the commandmentH4687 of our GodH430; and let it be doneH6213 8according to the lawH8451. 4AriseH6965! For this matterH1697 is 9your responsibilityH5921, but we will be with you; 10be courageousH2388 and actH6213.”

5Then EzraH5830 roseH6965 and 11made the leadingH8269 priestsH3548, the LevitesH3881 and allH3605 IsraelH3478, takeH7650 oathH7650 that they would doH6213 according to thisH2088 12proposalH1697; so they tookH7650 the oathH7650. 6Then EzraH5830 13roseH6965 from beforeH4480H6440 the houseH1004 of GodH430 and wentH1980 into the chamberH3957 of JehohananH3076 the sonH1121 of EliashibH475. Although he wentH1980 thereH8033, 14he did not eatH398 breadH3899 norH3808 drinkH8354 waterH4325, for he was mourningH56 overH5921 the unfaithfulnessH4604 of the exilesH1473. 7They madeH5674 a proclamationH6963 throughout JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 to allH3605 the exilesH1121H1473, that they should assembleH6908 at JerusalemH3389, 8and that whoeverH3605H834 would not comeH935 within threeH7969 daysH3117, according to the counselH6098 of the leadersH8269 and the eldersH2205, allH3605 his possessionsH7399 should be forfeitedH2763 and he himselfH1931 excludedH914 from the assemblyH6951 of the exilesH1473.

9So allH3605 the menH376 of JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144 assembledH6908 at JerusalemH3389 within the threeH7969 daysH3117. It was the ninthH8671 monthH2320 on the twentiethH6242 of the monthH2320, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 satH3427 in the openH7339 squareH7339 before the houseH1004 of GodH430, 15tremblingH7460 becauseH5921 of this matterH1697 and the heavy rainH1653. 10Then EzraH5830 the priestH3548 stoodH6965 up and saidH559 to them, “You have beenH4603 unfaithfulH4603 and have marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802 addingH3254 to the guiltH819 of IsraelH3478. 11NowH6258 therefore, 16makeH5414 confessionH8426 to the LordH3068 GodH430 of your fathersH1 and 17doH6213 His willH7522; and 18separateH914 yourselves from the peoplesH5971 of the landH776 and from the foreignH5237 wivesH802.”
