Romans 6:2-23
21May it never be! How shall we who 2died to sin still live in it? 3Or do you not know that all of us who have been 3baptized into 4Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been 5buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was 6raised from the dead through the 7glory of the Father, so we too might walk in 8newness of life. 5For 9if we have become 10united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 11in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 12old 13self was 14crucified with Him, in order that our 15body of sin might be 16done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 17he who has died is 18freed from sin.
8Now 19if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 20raised from the dead, 21is never to die again; 22death no longer is master over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Even so consider yourselves to be 23dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore do not let sin 24reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 25presenting 26the members of your body to sin as 27instruments of unrighteousness; but 28present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as 29instruments of righteousness to God. 14For 30sin shall not 31be master over you, for 32you are not under law but 33under grace.
15What then? 34Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? 35May it never be! 16Do you not 36know that when you present yourselves to someone as 37slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of 38sin 39resulting in death, or of obedience 40resulting in righteousness? 17But 41thanks be to God that 42though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 43form of teaching to which you were committed, 18and having been 44freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 1945I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 46as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 47resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, 48resulting in sanctification.
20For 49when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21Therefore what 5051benefit were you then 52deriving 53from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 54death. 22But now having been 55freed from sin and 56enslaved to God, you 57derive your 5859benefit, 60resulting in sanctification, and 61the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 62sin is death, but the free gift of God is 63eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
