Context of 2 Samuel 6:15
13And so it was, that when the bearers of the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. 14And David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouting and the sound of the trumpet. 16Then it happened as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. 17So they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 12-19Verses 12-19 It became evident, that happy was the man who had the ark near him. Christ is indeed a Stone of stumbling, and a Rock of offence, to those that are disobedient; but to those that believe, he is a Corner-stone, elect, precious, 1Pe 2:6-8. Let us be religious. Is the ark a blessing to others' houses? We may have it, and the blessing of it, without fetching it away from our neighbours. David, at first setting out, offered sacrifices to God. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 15In 2 Samuel 15:10, rams’ horns announce the crowning of a new king. In 2 Samuel 20:1, they announce rebellion. Here, the horns celebrate placing the ark in its own tent (see study note on 2 Samuel 6:17). This action symbolically placed Yahweh’s throne in Jerusalem.Read the comment
