9Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּ֣חvai.yiz.BachH2076sheepצֹ֤אןtzonH6629and oxenוּבָקָר֙u.va.KarH1241and fatlingsוּמְרִ֔יאu.me.Ri'H4806by thestoneאֶ֣בֶן'E.venH68of Zohelethהַזֹּחֶ֔לֶתha.zo.Che.letH2120,whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834is besideאֵ֖צֶל'E.tzelH681En-rogelH5883;and he invitedוַיִּקְרָ֗אvai.yik.Ra'H7121allכָּל־kol-H3605his brothersאֶחָיו֙'e.ChavH251,the king’sהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121,and allוּלְכָל־u.le.khol-H3605the menH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063,the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428servantsעַבְדֵ֥י'av.DeiH5650.

10But he did not inviteקָרָֽא׃ka.Ra'H7121Nathanנָתָן֩na.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֨יאha.na.Vi'H5030,Benaiahוּבְנָיָ֜הוּu.ve.na.Ya.huH1141,the mightyהַגִּבּוֹרִ֛יםha.gi.bo.RimH1368menH1368, andSolomonשְׁלֹמֹ֥הshe.lo.MohH8010his brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251.

11Then Nathanנָתָ֗ןna.TanH5416spokeוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toBathshebaH1339the motherאֵם־'em-H517of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹה֙she.lo.MohH8010,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Have you not heardשָׁמַ֔עַתְּsha.Ma.'atH8085that Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Haggithחַגִּ֑יתcha.GitH2294has becomeמָלַ֖ךְma.LakhH4427kingH4427,and Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732our lordוַאֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּva.'a.do.Nei.nuH113does not knowיָדָֽע׃ya.Da'H3045it?

13Goלְכִ֞יle.KhiH1980at onceוּבֹ֣אִי׀u.Vo.'iH935to Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732and sayוְאָמַ֤רְתְּve.'a.MartH559to him, ‘Have you not, my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113,O kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,swornנִשְׁבַּ֤עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650to your maidservantלַאֲמָֽתְךָ֙la.'a.ma.te.KhaH519,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Surelyכִּֽי־ki-H3588Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֤הshe.lo.MohH8010your sonבְנֵךְ֙ve.neKhH1121shall be kingH4427afterאַחֲרַ֔י'a.cha.RaiH310me, and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֣בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִ֑יkis.'IH3678”?Whyוּמַדּ֖וּעַu.ma.Du.a'H4069then has Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָֽהוּ׃'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138becomeH4427kingH4427?’

15So BathshebaH1339wentוַתָּבֹ֨אva.ta.Vo'H935in to the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428in the bedroomהַחַ֔דְרָהha.Chad.rahH2315. Nowthe kingוְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְve.ha.Me.lekhH4428was veryמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966oldזָקֵ֣ןza.KenH2204,and Abishagוַֽאֲבִישַׁג֙va.'a.vi.ShagH49the Shunammiteהַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔יתha.Shu.na.MitH7767was ministeringמְשָׁרַ֖תme.sha.RatH8334to the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.

16Then BathshebaH1339bowedוַתִּקֹּ֣דva.ti.KodH6915and prostratedוַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּva.tish.Ta.chuH7812herselfbefore the kingלַמֶּ֑לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428.And the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100do you wish?”

17She saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559to him, “My lordאֲדֹנִי֙'a.do.NiH113,you sworeנִשְׁבַּ֜עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650to your maidservantלַֽאֲמָתֶ֔ךָla.'a.ma.Te.khaH519by the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֤הba.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430, saying, ‘Surelyכִּֽי־ki-H3588your sonבְנֵ֖ךְve.NekhH1121Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֥הshe.lo.MohH8010shall be kingיִמְלֹ֣ךְyim.LokhH4427afterאַחֲרָ֑י'a.cha.RaiH310me and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֥בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִֽי׃kis.'IH3678.’

19He has sacrificedוַ֠יִּזְבַּחVai.yiz.bachH2076oxenשׁ֥וֹרShorH7794and fatlingsוּֽמְרִיא־u.me.ri'-H4806and sheepוְצֹאן֮ve.tzoNH6629in abundanceלָרֹב֒la.RoH7230,and has invitedוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and Abiatharוּלְאֶבְיָתָר֙u.le.'ev.ya.TarH54the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548and Joabוּלְיֹאָ֖בu.le.yo.'AvH3097the commanderשַׂ֣רsarH8269of the armyהַצָּבָ֑אha.tza.Va'H6635,but he has not invitedקָרָֽא׃ka.Ra'H7121Solomonוְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥הve.lish.lo.MohH8010your servantעַבְדְּךָ֖'av.de.KhaH5650.

20As for you now, my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,the eyesעֵינֵ֥י'ei.NeiH5869of allכָל־khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478are on you, to tellלְהַגִּ֣ידle.ha.GidH5046them whoמִ֗יMiH4310shall sitיֵשֵׁ֛בye.ShevH3427on the throneכִּסֵּ֥אki.Se'H3678of my lordאֲדֹנִֽי־'a.do.ni-H113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428afterאַחֲרָֽיו׃'a.cha.RavH310him.

24Then Nathanנָתָן֒na.TanH5416saidוַיֹּאמֶר֮vai.yo.MerH559, “My lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,have you saidאָמַ֔רְתָּ'a.Mar.taH559, ‘Adonijahאֲדֹנִיָּ֖הוּ'a.do.ni.Ya.huH138shall be kingיִמְלֹ֣ךְyim.LokhH4427afterאַחֲרָ֑י'a.cha.RaiH310me, and he shall sitיֵשֵׁ֥בye.ShevH3427on my throneכִּסְאִֽי׃kis.'IH3678’?

26But me, evenme your servantעַ֠בְדֶּךָ'Av.de.khaH5650,and Zadokוּלְצָדֹ֨קu.le.tza.DokH6659the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548and Benaiahוְלִבְנָיָ֧הוּve.liv.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֛עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077and your servantעַבְדְּךָ֖'av.de.KhaH5650Solomonוְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥הve.lish.lo.MohH8010,he has not invitedקָרָֽא׃ka.Ra'H7121.

28Then Kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֔אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Callקִרְאוּ־kir.'u-H7121BathshebaH1339to me.” And she cameוַתָּבֹא֙va.ta.Vo'H935into the king’sהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440and stoodוַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖דva.ta.'a.ModH5975beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.

29The kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428vowedוַיִּשָּׁבַ֥עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֕הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834has redeemedפָּדָ֥הpa.DahH6299my lifeנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605distressצָרָֽה׃tza.RahH6869,

32Then Kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559, “Callקִרְאוּ־kir.'u-H7121to meZadokלְצָד֤וֹקle.tza.DokH6659the priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ha.ko.HenH3548,Nathanוּלְנָתָ֣ןu.le.na.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֔יאha.na.Vi'H5030,and Benaiahוְלִבְנָיָ֖הוּve.liv.na.Ya.huH1141the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֑עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077.”And they cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935into the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428presenceלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440.

33The kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Takeקְח֤וּke.ChuH3947with youthe servantsעַבְדֵ֣י'av.DeiH5650of your lordאֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם'a.do.nei.KhemH113,and have my sonבְנִ֔יve.NiH1121Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010rideוְהִרְכַּבְתֶּם֙ve.hir.kav.TemH7392on my own muleהַפִּרְדָּ֖הha.pir.DahH6506,and bringH3381him downוְהוֹרַדְתֶּ֥םve.ho.rad.TemH3381toGihonגִּחֽוֹן׃gi.ChonH1521.

34Let Zadokצָד֨וֹקtza.DokH6659the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548and Nathanוְנָתָ֧ןve.na.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֛יאha.na.Vi'H5030anointוּמָשַׁ֣חu.ma.ShachH4886him thereשָׁ֠םShemH8033as kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478, andblowוּתְקַעְתֶּם֙u.te.ka'.TemH8628the trumpetבַּשּׁוֹפָ֔רba.sho.FarH7782and sayוַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕םva.'a.mar.TemH559, ‘Longliveיְחִ֖יye.ChiH2421Kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃she.lo.MohH8010!’

35Then you shall comeוַעֲלִיתֶ֣םva.'a.li.TemH5927up afterאַחֲרָ֗יו'a.cha.RavH310him, and he shall comeוּבָא֙u.Va'H935and sitוְיָשַׁ֣בve.ya.ShavH3427on my throneכִּסְאִ֔יkis.'IH3678and be kingיִמְלֹ֖ךְyim.LokhH4427in my placeתַּחְתָּ֑יtach.TaiH8478;for I have appointedצִוִּ֙יתִי֙tzi.Vi.tiH6680him to be rulerנָגִ֔ידna.GidH5057overH5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478and Judahיְהוּדָֽה׃ye.hu.DahH3063.”
