Isaiah 14:24-32
24The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, 1just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand, 25to 2break Assyria in My land, and I will trample him on My mountains. Then his 3yoke will be removed from them and his burden removed from their shoulder. 26This is the 4plan 5devised against the whole earth; and this is the 6hand that is stretched out against all the nations. 27For 7the Lord of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?”
28In the 8year that King Ahaz died this 910oracle came:29“Do not rejoice, O 11Philistia, all of you, Because the rod that 12struck you is broken; For from the serpent’s root a 13viper will come out, And its fruit will be a 14flying serpent.3015Those who are most 16helpless will eat, And the needy will lie down in security; I will 17destroy your root with 18famine, And it will kill off your survivors.31Wail, O 19gate; cry, O city; 20Melt away, O 21Philistia, all of you; For smoke comes from the 22north, And 23there is no straggler in his ranks.32How then will one answer the 24messengers of the nation? That 25the Lord has founded Zion, And 26the afflicted of His people will seek refuge in it.”
