Exodus 35

The Sabbath Emphasized

1Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, “1These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to 2do:

2“3For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, 4a sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; 5whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 36You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath day.”

4Moses spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which the Lord has commanded, saying, 5‘7Take from among you a 8contribution to the Lord; whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as the Lord’s 9contribution: gold, silver, and 10bronze, 6and 11blue, purple and scarlet material, fine linen, goats’ hair, 7and rams’ skins 12dyed red, and porpoise skins, and acacia wood, 8and oil for lighting, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense, 9and onyx stones and setting stones for the ephod and for the 13breastpiece.

Tabernacle Workmen

10‘14Let every skillful man among you come, and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11the 1516tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its 17sockets; 12the 18ark and its poles, the 19mercy seat, and the curtain of the screen; 13the 20table and its poles, and all its 21utensils, and the bread of the 22Presence; 14the 23lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps and the oil for the light; 15and the 24altar of incense and its poles, and the 25anointing oil and the 26fragrant incense, and the screen for the doorway at the 27entrance of the tabernacle; 1628the altar of burnt offering with its 29bronze grating, its poles, and all its 30utensils, the 31basin and its stand; 1732the hangings of the court, its pillars and its 33sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court and their cords; 19the 3435woven garments for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests.’”

Gifts Received

20Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses’ presence. 2136Everyone whose heart 37stirred him and everyone whose spirit 38moved him came and brought the Lord’s 39contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service and for the holy garments. 22Then all 40whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and 41earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did every man who 42presented an offering of gold to the Lord. 23Every man, 43who had in his possession 44blue and purple and scarlet material and fine linen and goats’ hair and rams’ skins 45dyed red and porpoise skins, brought them. 24Everyone who could make a 46contribution of silver and 47bronze brought the Lord’s 48contribution; and every man 49who had in his possession acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. 25All the 50skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in 51blue and purple and scarlet material and in fine linen. 26All the women whose heart 52stirred with a skill spun the goats’ hair. 27The rulers brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the 53breastpiece; 28and 54the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. 29The 55Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart 56moved them to bring material for all the work, which the Lord had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a 57freewill offering to the Lord.

3058Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in all 59craftsmanship; 3260to make designs for working in gold and in silver and in 61bronze, 33and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. 34He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and 62Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 3563He has filled them with 64skill to perform every work of an engraver and of a designer and of an embroiderer, in 65blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.
