4And there went outוַיֵּצֵ֤אvai.ye.Tze'H3318a championאִֽישׁ־ הַבֵּנַ֙יִם֙'ish- ha.be.Na.yimH1143 H376out of the campמִמַּחֲנ֣וֹתmi.ma.cha.NotH4264of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430,namedשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034Goliathגָּלְיָ֥תgal.YatH1555,of Gathמִגַּ֑תmi.GatH1661,whose heightגָּבְה֕וֹga.ve.HoH1363wassixשֵׁ֥שׁsheshH8337cubitsאַמּ֖וֹת'a.MotH520and a spanוָזָֽרֶת׃va.Za.retH2239.

5And he hadan helmetוְכ֤וֹבַעve.Khoa'H3553of brassנְחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ne.Cho.shetH5178upon his headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218, and he wasarmedלָב֑וּשׁla.VushH3847with a coatוְשִׁרְי֥וֹןve.shir.YonH8302of mailקַשְׂקַשִּׂ֖יםkas.ka.SimH7193;and the weightוּמִשְׁקַל֙u.mish.KalH4948of the coatהַשִּׁרְי֔וֹןha.shir.YonH8302wasfiveחֲמֵשֶׁת־cha.me.shet-H2568thousandאֲלָפִ֥ים'a.la.FimH505shekelsשְׁקָלִ֖יםshe.ka.LimH8255of brassנְחֹֽשֶֽׁת׃ne.Cho.ShetH5178.

6And he hadgreavesוּמִצְחַ֥תu.mitz.ChatH4697of brassנְחֹ֖שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178upon his legsרַגְלָ֑יוrag.LavH7272,and a targetוְכִיד֥וֹןve.khi.DonH3591of brassנְחֹ֖שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178between his shouldersכְּתֵפָֽיו׃ke.te.FavH3802.

7And the staffוְעֵ֣ץve.chatzH2671 H6086of his spearחֲנִית֗וֹcha.ni.ToH2595waslike a weaver’sאֹֽרְגִ֔ים'o.re.GimH707beamכִּמְנוֹר֙kim.nOrH4500;and his spear’sחֲנִית֔וֹcha.ni.ToH2595headוְלַהֶ֣בֶתve.la.He.vetH3852weighedsixשֵׁשׁ־shesh-H8337hundredמֵא֥וֹתme.'otH3967shekelsשְׁקָלִ֖יםshe.ka.LimH8255of ironבַּרְזֶ֑לbar.ZelH1270:and one bearingוְנֹשֵׂ֥אve.no.Se'H5375a shieldהַצִּנָּ֖הha.tzi.NahH6793wentהֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980beforeלְפָנָֽיו׃le.fa.NavH6440him.

8And he stoodוַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975and criedוַיִּקְרָא֙vai.yik.Ra'H7121unto the armiesמַעַרְכֹ֣תma.'ar.KhotH4634of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Why are ye come outתֵצְא֖וּte.tze.'UH3318to set yourbattleמִלְחָמָ֑הmil.cha.MahH4421in arrayלַעֲרֹ֣ךְla.'a.RokhH6186? amnot I a Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֗יha.pe.lish.TiH6430,and ye servantsעֲבָדִ֣ים'a.va.DimH5650to Saulלְשָׁא֔וּלle.sha.'UlH7586?chooseבְּרוּ־be.ru-H1262you a manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376for you, and let him come downוְיֵרֵ֥דve.ye.RedH3381to me.

9If he be ableיוּכַ֞לyu.KhalH3201to fightלְהִלָּחֵ֤םle.hi.la.ChemH3898with me, and to killוְהִכָּ֔נִיve.hi.Ka.niH5221me, then will we be your servantsלַעֲבָדִ֑יםla.'a.va.DimH5650:but if I prevailאֽוּכַל־'u.khal-H3201against him, and killוְהִכִּיתִ֔יוve.hi.ki.TivH5221him, then shall ye be our servantsלַעֲבָדִ֔יםla.'a.va.DimH5650,and serveוַעֲבַדְתֶּ֖םva.'a.vad.TemH5647us.

10And the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יha.pe.lish.TiH6430saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559,I defyחֵרַ֛פְתִּיche.Raf.tiH2778the armiesמַעַרְכ֥וֹתma.'ar.KhotH4634of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478this dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117;giveתְּנוּ־te.nu-H5414me a manאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376,that we may fightוְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֖הve.ni.la.cha.MahH3898togetherיָֽחַד׃Ya.chadH3162.

11When Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586and all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֤עvai.yish.Ma'H8085those wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697of the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430,they were dismayedוַיֵּחַ֥תּוּvai.ye.Cha.tuH2865,and greatlyמְאֹֽד׃ פme.'OdH3966afraidוַיִּֽרְא֖וּvai.yir.'UH3372.

12Now Davidוְדָוִד֩ve.da.VidH1732wasthe sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of that Ephrathiteאִ֨ישׁ אֶפְרָתִ֜י'ish 'ef.ra.TiH673 H376of Beth–lehem–judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063 H1035,whose nameוּשְׁמ֣וֹu.she.MoH8034wasJesseיִשַׁ֔יyi.ShaiH3448;and he had eightשְׁמֹנָ֣הshe.mo.NahH8083sonsבָנִ֑יםva.NimH1121:and the manוְהָאִישׁ֙ve.ha.'IshH376wentבָּ֥אba'H935among menבַאֲנָשִֽׁים׃va.'a.na.ShimH582foran old manזָקֵ֖ןza.KenH2204in the daysבִּימֵ֣יbi.MeiH3117of Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586.

13And the threeשְׁלֹ֤שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969eldestהַגְּדֹלִ֔יםha.ge.do.LimH1419sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Jesseיִשַׁי֙yi.ShaiH3448wentH3212andfollowedאַחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586to the battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421:and the namesוְשֵׁ֣ם׀ve.ShemH8034of his threeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969sonsבָּנָ֗יוba.NavH1121that wentH1980to the battleבַּמִּלְחָמָ֔הba.mil.cha.MahH4421wereEliabאֱלִיאָ֣ב'e.li.'AvH446the firstbornהַבְּכ֗וֹרha.be.KhorH1060,and nextוּמִשְׁנֵ֙הוּ֙u.mish.Ne.huH4932unto him Abinadabאֲבִ֣ינָדָ֔ב'a.Vi.na.DavH41,and the thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֖יve.ha.she.li.ShiH7992Shammahשַׁמָּֽה׃sha.MahH8048.

14And Davidוְדָוִ֖דve.da.VidH1732wasthe youngestהַקָּטָ֑ןha.ka.TanH6996:and the threeוּשְׁלֹשָׁה֙u.she.lo.ShahH7969eldestהַגְּדֹלִ֔יםha.ge.do.LimH1419followedהָלְכ֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֥יha.le.Khu 'a.cha.ReiH310 H1980Saulשָׁאֽוּל׃ סsha.'UlH7586.

15But Davidוְדָוִ֛דve.da.VidH1732wentהֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980and returnedוָשָׁ֖בva.ShavH7725from Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586to feedלִרְע֛וֹתlir.'otH7462his father’sאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1sheepצֹ֥אןtzonH6629at Beth–lehemH1035.

16And the Philistineהַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֖יha.pe.lish.TiH6430drew nearוַיִּגַּ֥שׁvai.yi.GashH5066morningהַשְׁכֵּ֣םhash.KemH7925and eveningוְהַעֲרֵ֑בve.ha.'a.RevH6150,and presentedוַיִּתְיַצֵּ֖בvai.yit.ya.TzevH3320himself fortyאַרְבָּעִ֥ים'ar.ba.'ImH705daysיֽוֹם׃ פYomH3117.

17And Jesseיִשַׁ֜יyi.ShaiH3448saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Davidלְדָוִ֣דle.da.VidH1732his sonבְּנ֗וֹbe.NoH1121,Takeקַח־kach-H3947now for thy brethrenלְאַחֶ֙יךָ֙le.'a.Chei.khaH251an ephahאֵיפַ֤ת'ei.FatH374of thisH2088parchedהַקָּלִיא֙ha.ka.Li'H7039corn,and these tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֥הva.'a.sa.RahH6235loavesלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899,and runוְהָרֵ֥ץve.ha.RetzH7323to the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖הha.ma.cha.NehH4264to thy brethrenלְאַחֶֽיךָ׃le.'a.Chei.khaH251;

18And carryתָּבִ֖יאta.Vi'H935these tenעֲשֶׂ֜רֶת'a.Se.retH6235cheesesחֲרִצֵ֤י הֶֽחָלָב֙cha.ri.Tzei he.cha.LavH2757 H2461unto the captainלְשַׂר־le.sar-H8269of theirthousandהָאָ֑לֶףha.'A.lefH505,and lookתִּפְקֹ֣דtif.KodH6485how thy brethrenאַחֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Chei.khaH251fareלְשָׁל֔וֹםle.sha.LomH7965,and takeתִּקָּֽח׃ti.KachH3947their pledgeעֲרֻבָּתָ֖ם'a.ru.ba.TamH6161.

19Now Saulוְשָׁא֤וּלve.sha.'UlH7586,and they, and all the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, werein the valleyבְּעֵ֖מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Elahהָֽאֵלָ֑הha.'e.LahH425,fightingנִלְחָמִ֖יםnil.cha.MimH3898with the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃pe.lish.TimH6430.

20And Davidדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732rose up earlyוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֨םvai.yash.KemH7925in the morningבַּבֹּ֗קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242,and leftוַיִּטֹּ֤שׁvai.yi.ToshH5203the sheepהַצֹּאן֙ha.tzoNH6629with a keeperשֹׁמֵ֔רsho.MerH8104,and tookוַיִּשָּׂ֣אvai.yi.Sa'H5375,and wentH3212,as Jesseיִשָׁ֑יyi.ShaiH3448had commandedצִוָּ֖הוּtzi.Va.huH6680him; and he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935to the trenchהַמַּעְגָּ֔לָהha.ma'.Ga.lahH4570,as the hostוְהַחַ֗יִלve.ha.Cha.yilH2428was going forthהַיֹּצֵא֙hai.yo.Tze'H3318to the fightהַמַּ֣עֲרָכָ֔הha.Ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634,and shoutedוְהֵרֵ֖עוּve.he.Re.'uH7321for the battleבַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ba.mil.cha.MahH4421.

21For Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478and the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430had put the battle in arrayוַתַּעֲרֹ֤ךְva.ta.'a.RokhH6186,armyמַעֲרָכָ֖הma.'a.ra.KhahH4634againstH7125armyמַעֲרָכָֽה׃ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634.

22And Davidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732leftוַיִּטֹּשׁ֩vai.yi.ToshH5203his carriageהַכֵּלִ֜יםha.ke.LimH3627in the handיַד֙yadH3027of the keeperשׁוֹמֵ֣רsho.MerH8104of the carriageהַכֵּלִ֔יםha.ke.LimH3627,and ranוַיָּ֖רָץvai.Ya.rotzH7323into the armyהַמַּעֲרָכָ֑הha.ma.'a.ra.KhahH4634,and cameוַיָּבֹ֕אvai.ya.Vo'H935and salutedוַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל לְשָׁלֽוֹם׃vai.yish.'Al le.sha.LomH7965 H7592his brethrenלְאֶחָ֖יוle.'e.ChavH251.
