24And the menוְאִֽישׁ־ve.'ish-H376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֥לYis.ra.'ElH3478were distressedנִגַּ֖שׂni.GasH5065that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117:for Saulשָׁא֨וּלsha.'UlH7586had adjuredוַיֹּאֶל֩vai.yo.'ElH422the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,Cursedאָר֣וּר'a.RurH779bethe manהָ֠אִישׁHa.'ishH376that eatethיֹ֨אכַלYo.khalH398anyfoodלֶ֜חֶםLe.chemH3899until eveningהָעֶ֗רֶבha.'E.revH6153,that I may be avengedוְנִקַּמְתִּי֙ve.ni.kam.TiH5358on mine enemiesמֵאֹ֣יְבַ֔יme.'O.ye.VaiH341.So none of the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971tastedטָעַ֥םta.'AmH2938anyfoodלָֽחֶם׃ סLa.chemH3899.
26And when the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971were comeוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935into the woodהַיַּ֔עַרhai.Ya.'arH3293,behold, the honeyדְּבָ֑שׁde.VashH1706droppedהֵ֣לֶךְHe.lekhH1982;but no man putמַשִּׂ֤יגma.SigH5381his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027to his mouthפִּ֔יוPivH6310:for the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971fearedיָרֵ֥אya.Re'H3372the oathהַשְּׁבֻעָֽה׃ha.she.vu.'AhH7621.
27But Jonathanוְיוֹנָתָ֣ןve.yo.na.TanH3129heardשָׁמַ֗עsha.Ma'H8085not when his fatherאָבִיו֮'a.VivH1chargedH7650the peopleהָעָם֒ha.'AmH5971with the oathבְּהַשְׁבִּ֣יעַbe.hash.Bi.a'H7650:wherefore he put forthוַיִּשְׁלַ֗חvai.yish.LachH7971the endקְצֵ֤הke.TzehH7097of the rodהַמַּטֶּה֙ha.ma.TehH4294that wasin his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027,and dippedוַיִּטְבֹּ֥לvai.yit.BolH2881it in an honeycombבְּיַעְרַ֣ת הַדְּבָ֑שׁbe.ya'.Rat ha.de.VashH1706H3295,and putוַיָּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027to his mouthפִּ֔יוPivH6310;and his eyesעֵינָֽיו׃'ei.NavH5869were enlightenedוַתָּאֹ֖רְנָהva.ta.ro.nahH215.
