24Now the menוְאִֽישׁ־ve.'ish-H376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֥לYis.ra.'ElH3478were hard-pressedנִגַּ֖שׂni.GasH5065on that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,for Saulשָׁא֨וּלsha.'UlH7586hadputוַיֹּאֶל֩vai.yo.'ElH422the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971underH422oathH422,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “Cursedאָר֣וּר'a.RurH779be the manהָ֠אִישׁHa.'ishH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834eatsיֹ֨אכַלYo.khalH398foodלֶ֜חֶםLe.chemH3899beforeH5704eveningהָעֶ֗רֶבha.'E.revH6153,and untilH5704I have avengedוְנִקַּמְתִּי֙ve.ni.kam.TiH5358myself on my enemiesH340.”So noneוְלֹֽא כָּל־ve.Lo' kol-H3808 H3605of the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971tastedטָעַ֥םta.'AmH2938foodלָֽחֶם׃ סLa.chemH3899.

25Allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the people ofthe landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776enteredבָּ֣אוּBa.'uH935the forestבַיָּ֑עַרvai.Ya.'arH3293,and there was honeyדְבַ֖שׁde.VashH1706on the groundפְּנֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃pe.Nei ha.sa.DehH6440 H7704.

26When the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971enteredוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935the forestהַיַּ֔עַרhai.Ya.'arH3293,beholdוְהִנֵּ֖הve.hi.NehH2009, there wasa flowהֵ֣לֶךְHe.lekhH1982of honeyדְּבָ֑שׁde.VashH1706;but noוְאֵין־ve.'ein-H369man putמַשִּׂ֤יגma.SigH5381his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027to his mouthפִּ֔יוPivH6310,for the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971fearedיָרֵ֥אya.Re'H3372the oathהַשְּׁבֻעָֽה׃ha.she.vu.'AhH7621.

27But JonathanH3083had not heardשָׁמַ֗עsha.Ma'H8085when his fatherאָבִיו֮'a.VivH1putH7650the peopleהָעָם֒ha.'AmH5971underH7650oathבְּהַשְׁבִּ֣יעַbe.hash.Bi.a'H7650; therefore,he putוַיִּשְׁלַ֗חvai.yish.LachH7971out the endקְצֵ֤הke.TzehH7097of the staffהַמַּטֶּה֙ha.ma.TehH4294that wasin his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027and dippedוַיִּטְבֹּ֥לvai.yit.BolH2881it in the honeycombבְּיַעְרַ֣ת הַדְּבָ֑שׁbe.ya'.Rat ha.de.VashH3295 H1706,and putוַיָּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725his handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027to his mouthפִּ֔יוPivH6310, andhis eyesעֵינָֽיו׃'ei.NavH5869brightenedוַתָּאֹ֖רְנָהva.ta.ro.nahH215.
