Judges 9:7-16
When this was reportedH5046 to JothamH3147, he climbedH1980H5975 to the topH7218 of MountH2022 GerizimH1630, raisedH5375 his voiceH6963, and cried outH7121H559:
One day the treesH6086 set outH1980to anointH4886 a kingH4428 for themselvesH5921.They saidH559 to the olive treeH2132,‘ReignH4427 over usH5921.’
But the olive treeH2132 repliedH559,‘Should I stop givingH2308 my oilH1880thatH834 honorsH3513 both GodH430 and manH582,to holdH1980 swayH5128 overH5921 the treesH6086?’
But the fig treeH8384 repliedH559,‘Should I stop givingH2308 my sweetnessH4987and my goodH2896 fruitH8570,to holdH1980 swayH5128 overH5921 the treesH6086?’
But the grapevineH1612 repliedH559,‘Should I stop givingH2308 my wineH8492that cheersH8055 both GodH430 and manH582,to holdH1980 swayH5128 overH5921 the treesH6086?’
Finally allH3605 the treesH6086 saidH559 toH413 the thornbushH329,‘ComeH1980H859 and reignH4427 over usH5921.’
But the thornbushH329 repliedH559,‘IfH518 youH859 reallyH571 are anointing meH4886 as kingH4428 over youH5921,comeH935 and find refugeH2620 in my shadeH6738.But ifH518 notH369, may fireH784 come outH3318 ofH4480 the thornbushH329and consumeH398 the cedarsH730 of LebanonH3844.’
NowH6258 ifH518 you have actedH6213 faithfullyH571 and honestlyH8549 in making AbimelechH40 kingH4427, ifH518H2896 you have done wellH6213 byH5973 JerubbaalH3378H5973 and his familyH1004, and ifH518 you have doneH6213 to him as heH3027 deservesH1576—
