Judges 12:1-5
Then the menH376 of EphraimH669 assembledH6817 and crossedH5674 the Jordan to ZaphonH6828. They saidH559 to JephthahH3316, “WhyH4069 have you crossed overH5674 to fightH3898 the AmmonitesH1121H5983 withoutH3808 calling usH7121 to goH1980 with youH5973? We will burn your houseH1004 downH8313H5921 with you insideH784!”
But JephthahH3316 repliedH559, “My peopleH5971 and IH589 hadH1961 a seriousH3966 conflictH7379 with the AmmonitesH1121H5983, and when I calledH2199, you did notH3808 saveH3467 meH853 out of their handsH3027. 3When I sawH7200 thatH3588 you would notH369 save meH3467, I riskedH7760H3709 my lifeH5315 and crossed overH5674 toH413 the AmmonitesH1121H5983, and the LORDH3068 delivered themH5414 into my handH3027. Why thenH4100 have you comeH5927H413 todayH3117H2088 to fightH3898 against me?”
Jephthah thenH3316 gatheredH6908 allH3605 the menH582 of GileadH1568 and foughtH3898 againstH854 EphraimH669. And the menH582 of GileadH1568 struck them downH5221 becauseH3588 the EphraimitesH669 had saidH559, “YouH859 GileaditesH1568 are fugitivesH6412 in EphraimH669, living in the territoriesH8432 of EphraimH669H8432 and ManassehH4519.”
The GileaditesH1568 capturedH3920 the fordsH4569 of the JordanH3383 leading to EphraimH669, andH1961 wheneverH3588 a fugitiveH6412 from EphraimH669 would sayH559, “Let me cross overH5674,” the GileaditesH1568 would askH559 himH582, “Are youH859 an EphraimiteH673?”
