Revised Version 1895
Deuteronomy 14:1-21
Ye are the childrenH1121 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430: ye shall notH3808 cutH1413 yourselves, norH3808 makeH7760 anyH3808 baldnessH7144 betweenH996 your eyesH5869 for the deadH4191.
For thou art an holyH6918 peopleH5971 unto the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, and the LORDH3068 hath chosenH977 thee to be a peculiar peopleH5971 unto himselfH6440, aboveH5921 allH3605 peoplesH5971 that are uponH5921 the faceH6440 of the earthH127.
Thou shalt notH3808 eatH398 anyH3605 abominableH8441 thingH8441.
TheseH2063 are the beastsH929 whichH834 ye shall eatH398: the oxH7794, the sheepH7716, and the goatH5795,
the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuckH3180, and the wildH689 goatH689, and the pygarg, and the antelopeH8377, and the chamois.
And everyH3605 beastH929 that parteth the hoofH6541, and hath the hoofH6541 cloven in twoH8147, and cheweth the cudH1625, among the beastsH929, that ye shall eatH398.
NeverthelessH389 theseH2088 ye shall notH3808 eatH398 of them that chewH5927 the cudH1625, or of them that have the hoofH6541 cloven: the camelH1581, and the hareH768, and the coney, becauseH3588 they chewH5927 the cudH1625 but part notH3808 the hoofH6541, they are uncleanH2931 unto youH3588:
and the swine, becauseH3588 he parteth the hoofH6541 but cheweth notH3808 the cudH1625, he is uncleanH2931 unto youH3588: of their fleshH1320 ye shall notH3808 eatH398, and their carcases ye shall notH3808 touchH5060.
TheseH2088 ye shall eatH398 of allH3605 that are in the watersH4325: whatsoeverH3605 hath finsH5579 and scalesH7193 shall ye eatH398:
and whatsoeverH3605 hath notH3808 finsH5579 and scalesH7193 ye shall notH3808 eatH398; it is uncleanH2931 unto youH834.
Of allH3605 cleanH2889 birdsH6833 ye may eatH398.
But theseH2088 are they of whichH834 ye shall notH3808 eatH398: the eagleH5404, and the gier eagleH5404, and the ospray;
and the glede, and the falconH344, and the kite afterH4327 itsH853 kindH4327;
and everyH3605 ravenH6158 afterH4327 itsH3605 kindH4327;
and the ostrichH3284, and the night hawkH5322, and the seamew, and the hawkH5322 afterH4327 itsH853 kindH4327;
the little owlH3244, and the greatH3244 owlH3244, and the horned owlH3244;
and the pelicanH6893, and the vultureH7360, and the cormorantH7994;
and the storkH2624, and the heronH601 afterH4327 its kindH4327, and the hoopoeH1744, and the batH5847.
And allH3605 wingedH5775 creeping things are uncleanH2931 unto youH3605: they shall notH3808 be eatenH398.
Of allH3605 cleanH2889 fowls ye may eatH398.
Ye shall notH3808 eatH398 of anyH3605 thingH3588 that dieth of itself: thou mayest giveH5414 it unto the strangerH1616 that is within thy gatesH8179, that he may eatH398 it; or thou mayest sellH4376 it unto a foreignerH5237: for thou art an holyH6918 peopleH5971 unto the LORDH3068 thy GodH430. Thou shalt notH3808 seetheH1310 a kid in itsH3605 mother’sH517 milkH2461.
