Chronicles 32:9-23
AfterH310 this didH834 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sendH7971 his servantsH5650 to JerusalemH3389, (nowH2088 he was beforeH5921 LachishH3923, and allH3605 his power with him,) unto HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and unto allH3605 JudahH3063 that were at JerusalemH3389, sayingH559,
ThusH3541 saith SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, Whereon doH4100 ye trustH982, that ye abideH3427 the siegeH4692 in JerusalemH3389?
Doth notH3808 HezekiahH2396 persuade youH5414, to giveH5414 youH5414 over to dieH4191 by famineH7458 and by thirstH6772, sayingH559, The LORDH3068 our GodH430 shall deliverH5337 usH5414 outH853 of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804?
Hath notH3808 the sameH1931 HezekiahH2396 takenH5493 awayH5493 his highH1116 placesH1116 and his altarsH4196, and commandedH559 JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, sayingH559, Ye shall worshipH7812 beforeH6440 one altarH4196, and uponH5921 it shall ye burnH6999 incenseH6999?
KnowH3045 ye notH3808 whatH4100 I and my fathersH1 have doneH6213 unto allH3605 the peoplesH5971 of the landsH776? Were the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of the landsH776 anyH3605 ways ableH3201 to deliverH5337 their landH776 outH3045 of mine handH3027?
Who was there among allH3605 the godsH430 of thoseH428 nationsH1471 whichH834 my fathersH1 utterly destroyed, that couldH3201 deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 outH3605 of mine handH3027, that your GodH430 should be ableH3201 to deliverH5337 youH834 outH3605 of mine handH3027?
NowH6258 therefore letH408 notH3808 HezekiahH2396 deceiveH5377 youH3588, norH3808 persuade youH3588 on this manner, neitherH3808 believeH539 ye him: for noH3808 godH430 of anyH3605 nationH1471 or kingdomH4467 was ableH3201 to deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 outH3605 of mine handH3027, and outH3605 of the handH3027 of my fathersH1: howH637 muchH637 lessH637 shall your GodH430 deliverH5337 youH3588 outH3605 of mine handH3027?
And his servantsH5650 spake yet moreH5750 againstH5921 the LORDH3068 GodH430, and againstH5921 his servantH5650 HezekiahH2396.
He wroteH3789 also lettersH5612, to rail on the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, and to speakH559 againstH5921 him, sayingH559, As the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 of the landsH776 whichH834 have notH3808 deliveredH5337 their peopleH5971 outH5921 of mine handH3027, soH3651 shall notH3808 the GodH430 of HezekiahH2396 deliverH5337 his peopleH5971 outH5921 of mine handH3027.
And they criedH7121 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963 in the Jews’ languageH3066 unto the peopleH5971 of JerusalemH3389 that were on the wallH2346, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might takeH3920 the cityH5892.
And they spake of the GodH430 of JerusalemH3389, as of the godsH430 of the peoplesH5971 of the earthH776, which are the workH4639 of men’sH120 handsH3027.
And HezekiahH2396 the kingH4428, and IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 the sonH1121 of AmozH531, prayedH6419 becauseH5921 of this, and criedH2199 to heavenH8064.
And the LORDH3068 sentH7971 an angelH4397, whichH8033 cutH3582 offH3582 allH3605 the mightyH1368 menH1368 of valour, and the leadersH8269 and captainsH8269, in the campH4264 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. SoH7971 he returnedH7725 with shameH1322 of faceH6440 to his ownH6440 landH776. And when he was comeH935 intoH935 the houseH1004 of his godH430, they that cameH935 forthH7971 of his ownH6440 bowelsH4578 slew him there with the swordH2719.
Thus the LORDH3068 savedH3467 HezekiahH2396 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 from the handH3027 of SennacheribH5576 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and from the handH3027 of allH3605 otherH3605, and guidedH5095 them on everyH3605 sideH5439.
And manyH7227 broughtH935 giftsH4503 unto the LORDH3068 to JerusalemH3389, and preciousH4030 things to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063: soH3651 that he was exaltedH5375 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 nationsH1471 from thenceforth.
