2But the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to ShemaiahH8098 the manH376 of GodH430, sayingH559,

3SpeakH559 unto RehoboamH7346 the sonH1121 of SolomonH8010, kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and to allH3605 IsraelH3478 in JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144, sayingH559,

4ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, Ye shall notH3808 goH5927 upH5927, norH3808 fightH3898 againstH413 your brethrenH251: returnH7725 everyH376 manH376 to his houseH1004; for this thingH1697 is of meH413. SoH3541 they hearkened unto the wordsH1697 of the LORDH3068, and returnedH7725 from goingH5927 againstH413 JeroboamH3379.

5And RehoboamH7346 dweltH3427 in JerusalemH3389, and builtH1129 citiesH5892 for defence in JudahH3063.

6He builtH1129 evenH853 Beth-lehem, and EtamH5862, and TekoaH8620,

7And Beth-zurH1049, and SocoH7755, and AdullamH5725,

8and GathH1661, and MareshahH4762, and ZiphH2128,

9and AdoraimH115, and LachishH3923, and AzekahH5825,

10and ZorahH6881, and AijalonH357, and HebronH2275, whichH834 are in JudahH3063 and in BenjaminH1144, fenced citiesH5892.

11And he fortifiedH4694 the strongH2388 holdsH2388, and putH5414 captains in them, and store of victual, and oilH8081 and wineH3196.

12And in everyH3605 several cityH5892 he putH2388 shieldsH6793 and spearsH7420, and madeH2388 them exceedingH3966 strongH2388. And JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144 belongedH1961 to him.

13And the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881 that were in allH3605 IsraelH3478 resorted to him outH5921 of allH3605 their borderH1366.

14For the LevitesH3881 leftH5800 their suburbs and their possessionH272, and came to JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389: for JeroboamH3379 and his sonsH1121 cast them offH853, that they should notH3588 execute the priest’s office unto the LORDH3068:

15and he appointedH5975 him priestsH3548 for the highH1116 placesH1116, and for the he-goats, and for the calvesH5695 whichH834 he had madeH6213.
