1 Kings 17
Revised Version 1895
1And ElijahH452 the Tishbite, who was of the sojournersH8453 of GileadH1568, saidH559 unto AhabH256, As the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, liveth, beforeH6440 whomH834 I standH5975, there shall notH518 be dewH2919 norH518 rainH4306 theseH428 yearsH8141, but accordingH6310 to my wordH1697. 2And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 unto him, sayingH559, 3Get thee hence, and turnH6437 thee eastwardH6924, and hideH5641 thyself by the brookH5158 CherithH3747, that is beforeH6440 JordanH3383. 4And it shall be, that thou shalt drinkH8354 of the brookH5158; and I have commandedH6680 the ravensH6158 to feed thee there. 5SoH6213 he wentH6440 and didH6213 accordingH5921 unto the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068: for he wentH6440 and dweltH3427 by the brookH5158 CherithH3747, that is beforeH6440 JordanH3383. 6And the ravensH6158 broughtH935 him breadH3899 and fleshH1320 in the morningH1242, and breadH3899 and fleshH1320 in the eveningH6153; and he drankH8354 of the brookH5158. 7And it cameH1961 to passH1961 afterH7093 a whileH1961, that the brookH5158 driedH3001 upH3001, becauseH3588 there was noH3808 rainH1653 in the landH776. 8And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 unto him, sayingH559, 9AriseH6965, getH6965 thee to ZarephathH6886, whichH834 belongeth to Zidon, and dwellH3427 there: beholdH2009, I have commandedH6680 a widowH490 womanH802 there to sustainH3557 thee. 10SoH3947 he aroseH6965 and wentH935 to ZarephathH6886; and when he cameH935 to the gateH6607 of the cityH5892, beholdH2009, a widowH490 womanH802 was there gatheringH7197 sticksH6086: and he calledH7121 to herH413, and saidH559, Fetch meH413, I prayH4994 thee, a littleH4592 waterH4325 in a vesselH3627, that I may drinkH8354. 11And as sheH7121 was going to fetch it, he calledH7121 to herH413, and saidH559, BringH3947 meH413, I prayH4994 thee, a morselH6595 of breadH3899 in thine handH3027. 12And sheH3588 saidH559, As the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 liveth, I have notH518 a cake, but an handful of mealH7058 in the barrel, and a littleH4592 oilH8081 in the cruse: and, beholdH2005, I am gatheringH7197 twoH8147 sticksH6086, that I may goH935 in and dress it for meH935 and my sonH1121, that weH3588 may eatH398 it, and dieH4191. 13And ElijahH452 saidH559 unto herH413, FearH3372 notH408; goH3318 and doH6213 as thou hast saidH559: but makeH6213 meH413 thereof a littleH6996 cakeH5692 firstH7223, and bringH935 it forthH3318 unto meH413, and afterwardH314 makeH6213 for thee and for thy sonH1121. 14For thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, The barrel of mealH7058 shall notH3808 wasteH3615, neitherH3808 shall the cruse of oilH8081 failH3615, untilH5704 the dayH3117 that the LORDH3068 sendeth rainH1653 uponH5921 the earthH127. 15And sheH1931 wentH1004 and didH6213 according to the sayingH1697 of ElijahH452: and sheH1931, and he, and herH398 houseH1004, didH6213 eatH398 many daysH3117. 16The barrel of mealH7058 wasted notH3808, neitherH3808 didH834 the cruse of oilH8081 failH3615, accordingH3027 to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, whichH834 he spake by ElijahH452. 17And it cameH1961 to passH1961 afterH310 theseH428 things, that the sonH1121 of the womanH802, the mistressH1172 of the houseH1004, fellH1961 sickH2470; and his sicknessH2483 was soH1961 sore, that there was noH3808 breathH5397 leftH3498 in him. 18And sheH4100 saidH559 unto ElijahH452, WhatH4100 have I to doH4100 with thee, O thou manH376 of GodH430? thou art comeH935 unto meH413 to bringH935 my sinH5771 to remembranceH2142, and to slayH4191 my sonH1121! 19And he saidH559 unto herH413, GiveH5414 meH413 thy sonH1121. And he tookH3947 him outH5921 of herH413 bosomH2436, and carriedH5927 him upH5927 intoH413 the chamberH5944, whereH834 he abodeH3427, and laidH7901 him uponH5921 his own bedH4296. 20And he criedH7121 unto the LORDH3068, and saidH559, O LORDH3068 my GodH430, hast thou also brought evilH7489 uponH5921 the widowH490 with whomH834 I sojourn, by slaying herH413 sonH1121? 21And he stretchedH4058 himselfH5315 uponH5921 the childH3206 threeH7969 timesH6471, and criedH7121 unto the LORDH3068, and saidH559, O LORDH3068 my GodH430, I prayH4994 thee, letH4994 this child’sH3206 soulH5315 comeH7725 intoH413 him againH7725. 22And the LORDH3068 hearkened unto the voiceH6963 of ElijahH452; and the soulH5315 of the childH3206 cameH7725 intoH5921 him againH7725, and he revivedH7725. 23And ElijahH452 tookH3947 the childH3206, and broughtH3947 him downH3381 outH4480 of the chamberH5944 intoH5414 the houseH1004, and deliveredH5414 him unto his motherH517: and ElijahH452 saidH559, SeeH7200, thy sonH1121 liveth. 24And the womanH802 saidH559 to ElijahH452, NowH6258 I knowH3045 that thou art a manH376 of GodH430, and that the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 in thy mouthH6310 is truthH571.
