Although he wentH1980 thereH8033, 16he did not eatH398 breadH3899 norH3808 drinkH8354 waterH4325, becauseH3588 he was mourningH56 overH5921 the unfaithfulnessH4604 of the exilesH1473. 7So they madeH5674 a proclamationH6963 throughout JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 to allH3605 the exilesH1121H1473, that they were to assembleH6908 at JerusalemH3389, 8and that whoeverH3605H834 did not comeH935 within threeH7969 daysH3117, in accordance with the counselH6098 of the leadersH8269 and the eldersH2205, allH3605 his propertyH7399 would be forfeitedH2763, and he himselfH1931 would be excludedH914 from the assemblyH6951 of the exilesH1473.

It was the ninthH8671 monthH2320 on the twentiethH6242 of the monthH2320, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 satH3427 in the publicH7339 squareH7339 before the houseH1004 of GodH430, 17tremblingH7460 becauseH5921 of this matterH1697 and the heavy rainH1653. 10Then EzraH5830 the priestH3548 stoodH6965 upH6965 and saidH559 to them, “You have beenH4603 unfaithfulH4603 and have marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802, addingH3254 to the guiltH819 of IsraelH3478. 11NowH6258 therefore, 18makeH5414 confessionH8426 to the LordH3068 GodH430 of your fathersH1 and 19doH6213 His willH7522; and 20separateH914 yourselves from the peoplesH5971 of the landH776 and from the foreignH5237 wivesH802.” 12Then allH3605 the assemblyH6951 repliedH6030 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963, “It is 21our dutyH5921 to doH6213 exactlyH3651 as you have saidH1697! 13HoweverH61, there are manyH7227 peopleH5971, it is the rainyH1653 seasonH6256, and we are not ableH3581 to standH5975 in the openH2351.
