Matthew 5:13-20
“You are the salt of the earth; but 1if the salt has become tasteless, how 2can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.
“You are 3the light of the world. A city set on a 4hill cannot be hidden; 155nor do people light a lamp and put it under a 6basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may 7see your good works, and 8glorify your Father who is in heaven.
“Do not presume that I came to abolish the 9Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18For truly I say to you, 10until heaven and earth pass away, not 11the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished! 19Therefore, whoever nullifies one of the least of these commandments, and teaches 12others to do the same, shall be called least 13in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever 14keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
“For I say to you that unless your 15righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
