Matthew 27:45-54

451Now from the 2sixth hour darkness 3fell upon all the land until the 4ninth hour. 46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “5Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 47And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling for Elijah.” 48And 6immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. 49But the rest of them said, “7Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him8.” 50And Jesus 9cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit. 5110And behold, 11the 12veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and 13the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52Also the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the 14saints who had 15fallen asleep were raised; 53and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered 16the holy city and appeared to many. 5417Now as for the centurion and those who were with him 18keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw 19the earthquake and the other things that were happening, they became extremely frightened and said, “Truly this was 2021the Son of God!”
