Matthew 27:29-43

291And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and put a 2reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “3Hail, King of the Jews!” 30And 4they spit on Him, and took the reed and beat Him on the head. 315And after they had mocked Him, they took the cloak off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.

326As they were coming out, they found a man of 7Cyrene named Simon, 8whom they compelled to carry His 9cross.

3310And when they came to a place called 11Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull, 3412they gave Him 13wine mixed with 14bile to drink; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink it.

35And when they had crucified Him, 15they divided His garments among themselves by casting 16lots. 36And sitting down, they began to 17keep watch over Him there. 37And above His head they put up the charge against Him 18which read, “19THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

38At that time two 20rebels were being crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left. 39And those passing by were 21speaking abusively to Him, 22shaking their heads, 40and saying, “23You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! 24If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking Him and saying, 42“25He saved others; 26He cannot save Himself! 27He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. 4328He has trusted in God; let God rescue Him now, if He 29takes pleasure in Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
