Matthew 1:16-19

16Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, 1who is called the 2Messiah.

17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the 3deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the 4deportation to Babylon to the 5Messiah, fourteen generations.

18Now the birth of Jesus the 6Messiah was as follows: when His 7mother Mary had been 8betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was 9found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19And her husband Joseph, since he was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her, planned to 1011send her away secretly.
