John 5:23-47

23so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. 1The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

24“Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and 2believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and 3does not come into judgment, but has 4passed out of death into life. 25Truly, truly, I say to you, 56a time is coming and 7even now has arrived, when 8the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who 9hear will live. 26For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He 10gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27and He gave Him authority to 11execute judgment, because He is 12the Son of Man. 28Do not be amazed at this; for 1314a time is coming when 15all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come out: 16those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

30“17I can do nothing 18on My own. As I hear, I judge; and 19My judgment is 20righteous, because I do not seek My own will but 21the will of Him who sent Me.

31“22If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not 23true. 32There is 24another who testifies about Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33You have sent messengers to John, and he 25has testified to the truth. 34But 26the testimony I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was 27the lamp that was burning and shining, and you 28were willing to rejoice for 29a while in his light. 36But the testimony I have is greater than the testimony of John; for 30the works which the Father has given Me 31to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father 32has sent Me. 37And the Father who sent Me, 33He has testified about Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38Also you do not have 34His word remaining in you, because you do not believe Him whom He 35sent. 393637You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is 38those very Scriptures that testify about Me; 40and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 4139I do not receive glory from people; 42but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not 40receive Me; 41if another comes in his own name, you will 42receive him. 44How can you believe, when you 4344accept 45glory from one another and you do not seek 46the 47glory that is from 48the one and only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is 49Moses, in whom you have put your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for 50he wrote about Me. 47But 51if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
