John 5:20-47
201For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him 2greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21For just as the Father raises the dead and 3gives them life, so 4the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22For not even the Father judges anyone, but 5He has given all judgment to the Son, 23so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. 6The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
24“Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and 7believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and 8does not come into judgment, but has 9passed out of death into life. 25Truly, truly, I say to you, 1011a time is coming and 12even now has arrived, when 13the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who 14hear will live. 26For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He 15gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27and He gave Him authority to 16execute judgment, because He is 17the Son of Man. 28Do not be amazed at this; for 1819a time is coming when 20all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29and will come out: 21those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the bad deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
30“22I can do nothing 23on My own. As I hear, I judge; and 24My judgment is 25righteous, because I do not seek My own will but 26the will of Him who sent Me.
31“27If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not 28true. 32There is 29another who testifies about Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33You have sent messengers to John, and he 30has testified to the truth. 34But 31the testimony I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was 32the lamp that was burning and shining, and you 33were willing to rejoice for 34a while in his light. 36But the testimony I have is greater than the testimony of John; for 35the works which the Father has given Me 36to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father 37has sent Me. 37And the Father who sent Me, 38He has testified about Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38Also you do not have 39His word remaining in you, because you do not believe Him whom He 40sent. 394142You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is 43those very Scriptures that testify about Me; 40and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 4144I do not receive glory from people; 42but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not 45receive Me; 46if another comes in his own name, you will 47receive him. 44How can you believe, when you 4849accept 50glory from one another and you do not seek 51the 52glory that is from 53the one and only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is 54Moses, in whom you have put your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for 55he wrote about Me. 47But 56if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
