John 18:29-32
291Therefore Pilate came out to them and said, “What accusation are you bringing against this Man?” 30They answered and said to him, “If this Man were not 2a criminal, we would not have handed Him over to you.” 31So Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him, “We are not 3permitted to put anyone to death.” 32This happened so that 4the word of Jesus which He said, indicating what kind of death He was going to die, would be fulfilled.
