Acts 2:6-21
6And when 1this sound occurred, the crowd came together and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own 2language. 73They were amazed and astonished, saying, “4Why, are not all these who are speaking 5Galileans? 8And how is it that we each hear them in our own 6language 7to which we were born? 9Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, and 8Cappadocia, 9Pontus and 1011Asia, 1012Phrygia and 13Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya around 14Cyrene, and 1516visitors from Rome, both Jews and 1718proselytes, 11Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own 19tongues of the mighty deeds of God.” 12And 20they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13But others were jeering and saying, “21They are full of 22sweet wine!”
14But Peter, taking his stand with 23the other eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, 24know this, and pay attention to my words. 15For these people are not drunk, as you assume, 25since it is only the 26third hour of the day; 16but this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:17‘27And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour out My Spirit on all 28mankind; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, And your young men will see visions, And your old men will 29have dreams;18And even on My male and female 30servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days, And they will prophesy.19And I will 31display wonders in the sky above And signs on the earth below, Blood, fire, and 32vapor of smoke.20The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.21And it shall be that 33everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
