Acts 13:27-37
For those who live in Jerusalem, and their 1rulers, 2recognizing neither Him nor the 3declarations of 4the prophets which are 5read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.
And though they found no grounds for putting Him to death, they 6asked Pilate that He be executed.
When they had 7carried out everything that was written concerning Him, 8they took Him down from the 910cross and 11laid Him in a tomb.
But God 12raised Him from the dead;
and for many days 13He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now 14His witnesses to the people.
And we 15preach to you the good news of 16the promise made to the fathers,
that God has fulfilled this promise to those of us who are the descendants by 17raising Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘18You are My Son; today I have fathered You.’
As for the fact that He 19raised Him from the dead, never again to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘20I will give you the holy and faithful mercies of David.’
Therefore, He also says in another Psalm: ‘21You will not 22allow Your 23Holy One to 24undergo decay.’
For 25David, after he had 26served God’s 27purpose in his own generation, 28fell asleep, and was 29buried among his fathers and 30underwent decay;
