Acts 13:26-37

“1Brothers, sons of Abraham’s family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of 2this salvation has been sent.

For those who live in Jerusalem, and their 3rulers, 4recognizing neither Him nor the 5declarations of 6the prophets which are 7read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.

And though they found no grounds for putting Him to death, they 8asked Pilate that He be executed.

When they had 9carried out everything that was written concerning Him, 10they took Him down from the 1112cross and 13laid Him in a tomb.

But God 14raised Him from the dead;

and for many days 15He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now 16His witnesses to the people.

And we 17preach to you the good news of 18the promise made to the fathers,

that God has fulfilled this promise to those of us who are the descendants by 19raising Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘20You are My Son; today I have fathered You.’

As for the fact that He 21raised Him from the dead, never again to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘22I will give you the holy and faithful mercies of David.’

Therefore, He also says in another Psalm: ‘23You will not 24allow Your 25Holy One to 26undergo decay.’

For 27David, after he had 28served God’s 29purpose in his own generation, 30fell asleep, and was 31buried among his fathers and 32underwent decay;

but He whom God 33raised did not 34undergo decay.
