Acts 11:19-30

191So then those who were scattered because of the 2persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way 3to 4Phoenicia, 5Cyprus, and 6Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone. 20But there were some of them, men of 7Cyprus and 8Cyrene, who came to 9Antioch and began speaking to the 1011Greeks as well, 12preaching the good news of the Lord Jesus. 21And 13the hand of the Lord was with them, and 14a large number who believed turned to the Lord. 22The 15news about them 16reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent 17Barnabas off 18to 19Antioch. 23Then when he arrived and 20witnessed 21the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with 22resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; 24for he was a good man, and 23full of the Holy Spirit and faith. And 2425considerable numbers were added to the Lord. 25And he left for 26Tarsus to look for Saul; 26and when he had found him, he brought him to 27Antioch. And for an entire year they 28met with the church and taught 29considerable numbers of people; and 30the disciples were first called 31Christians in 32Antioch.

27Now 33at this time some 34prophets came down from Jerusalem to 35Antioch. 28One of them, named 36Agabus, stood up and 37indicated 38by the Spirit that there would definitely be a severe famine 39all over the 40world. 41And this took place in the reign of 42Claudius. 29And to the extent that any of 43the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the 44relief of 45the brothers and sisters living in Judea. 3046And they did this, sending it 47with 48Barnabas and Saul to the 49elders.
