1 Samuel 7:12-17

12Then Samuel 1took a stone and placed it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it 2Ebenezer, saying, “3So far the Lord has helped us.” 134So the Philistines were subdued, and 5they did not come anymore within the border of Israel. And the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. 14The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel 6recovered their territory from the hand of the Philistines. So there was peace between Israel and 7the Amorites.

15Now Samuel 8judged Israel all the days of his life. 16And he used to go annually on a circuit to 9Bethel, 10Gilgal, and 11Mizpah, and he judged Israel in all these places. 17Then he would make his return to 12Ramah, because his house was there, and there he also judged Israel; and there he 13built an altar to the Lord.
