1 Peter 1:11-25

111seeking to know what person or time 2the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He 3predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories 4to follow. 12It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who 5preached the gospel to you by 6the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things into which 7angels long to 8look.

13Therefore, 910prepare your minds for action, 1112keep sober in spirit, set your 13hope completely on the 14grace to be brought to you at 15the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14As 1617obedient children, do not 1819be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your 20ignorance, 15but 2122like the Holy One who called you, 2324be holy yourselves also 25in all your behavior; 16because it is written: “26You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

17If you 27address as Father the One who 28impartially 29judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves 30in fear during the time of your 31stay on earth; 18knowing that you were not 3233redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your 34futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19but with precious 35blood, as of a 36lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20For He was 37foreknown before 38the foundation of the world, but has 39appeared 40in these last times 41for the sake of you 21who through Him are 42believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and 43gave Him glory, so that your faith and 44hope are in God.

22Since you have 45purified your souls 46in obedience to the truth for a 47sincere love of the brothers and sisters, fervently love one another from 48the heart, 23for you have been 49born again 50not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring 51word of God. 24For, “52All flesh is like grass, And all its glory is like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off,2553But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is 54the word which was 55preached to you.
